Heather is an experienced teacher and trainer with over 10 years of classroom experience . Heather has taught in high schools in the UK, Thailand and Australia, supporting students with diverse backgrounds to reach their potential.
Before embarking on her teaching career, Heather began working as a SEN Teaching Assistant working with students with complex learning, social and physical needs. After completing her PGCE, Heather started her teaching career working in a state school with challenging behaviour in the UK. Here she began teaching science and senior chemistry and over 3 years Heather progressed to the role of Teaching and Learning Coordinator and Pupil Progress Achievement Leader. Here she was responsible for running pedagogy workshops and designing and implementing school wide initiatives to support disengaged and vulnerable students.
Heather also worked for 2 years as the Head of Sixth Form at an international school in Thailand, before making the permanent move to Australia. Here in Brisbane Heather first spent 2 years teaching in the state sector supporting the introduction of Psychology in to the Queensland curriculum, at private grammar schools and at BCE schools before returning to study.
Sessions focus on building emotional awareness for self and students and increasing the capacity to better meet the needs of students without feeling drained and limited in support.
